History

Just as brand names in other industries are the standard bearers for their product line, T-Tape is the standard for drip irrigation products. The success story began with the vision and determination of Mr. Davies Allport, who founded T-Systems International in July 1977. When Mr. Allport started his small business in San Diego, California, the drip irrigation industry was in its infancy. His goal was to provide growers with a reliable and effective solution for their irrigation needs by increasing their efficiencies and profits. Mr. Allport succeeded with his mission.

Our earliest product, T-Tape, was introduced to the agricultural industry in 1979. T-Tape used laminar flow technology which was later awarded a patent in 1981. While this product was well received in the market, we realized that growers’ needs were constantly changing. T-Systems International, Inc. has never been a company to resist change or rest on its successes. Instead, we continually strive to improve our products. As a result, in 1987 we announced the introduction of Turbo-tape, which implemented new turbulent flow technology. This improvement allowed better-regulated pressure at the outlet, resulting in wetting uniformity regardless of moderate slope or pressure changes. Today, this is the product commonly known as T-Tape.

In 1991, we introduced T-Tape 700. This larger diameter tubing allowed runs up to 1/4 mile in length, therefore eliminating costly submains and laterals. T-Systems International was the first company in the world to offer this innovation.

In 1994, a technological breakthrough resulted in the introduction of T-Tape TSX® . This product is made with an advanced manufacturing process which results in a thinner wall product with strength comparable to a much thicker drip tape. T-Tape TSX has a specially designed slit outlet that eliminates startup plugging from external contaminants while impeding root intrusion. In addition, T-Tape TSX offers savings on installation cost and improves uniformity without hindering strength.

In 1997, we introduced T-Tape TSX2® as a premium product. It was designed to create increased uniformity of water distribution from one end of the row to the other, while reducing the drip tape's susceptibility to plugging.

In an ongoing dedication to innovation, we looked beyond the agricultural industry and forged ahead to provide a drip irrigation tape to the mining industry. In November 1996 T-Systems introduced the T-Tape Separate-Ore® Series, a durable drip tape which would raise the efficiency and profitability of heap leach mining systems. We apply expertise in product development and support to the ore extraction industry. In addition, an expanded worldwide sales and distribution network was added to support the T-Tape Separate-Ore® product line.

Today, T-Tape and T-Tape Separate-Ore are available in a wide variety of drip tape models with various choices of wall thickness, outlet spacing, and flow rates. No matter what the application, customers can be certain T-Systems International will have the correct drip tape to meet their needs.

We’re breaking new ground with CropSense, a crop monitoring system that enables growers to “work smarter, not harder” through soil moisture monitoring, crop nutrition management, and environmental sensors.  Growers can improve crop yield and quality while keeping fertilizer and water costs in check through informed, timely decision-making based on a complete solution of reliable hardware, individual consultation, and support from in-field experts, and proven databases.

T-Systems International, Inc. also understands the importance of a quick response to the customer's need for products and service. We have established strong worldwide distribution channels that growers have learned to depend on for fast delivery and unsurpassed service in the industry. A network of qualified dealers provides prompt supply, as well as expert service and advice to help customers reach the ultimate production and efficiency with their drip irrigation systems.

Strategic location of manufacturing and distribution facilities enables us to provide delivery that is unmatched in the industry. In 1984, T-Systems Australia  was established in Brisbane to serve Australia and the Pacific Rim regions.T-Systems Europe was established in 1987 to serve Europe, Africa, and the Middle East out of Toulouse, France. In 1993, T-Systems International headquarters relocated to a new, larger facility in San Diego, California.

While T-Systems International, Inc. has been fortunate to enjoy continued growth over the years, the company prides itself on continuing the same entrepreneurial spirit with which the company was founded. We embrace the same philosophy of providing customers with innovative solutions and prompt service and delivery of the highest quality drip tape system on the market. T-Systems International, Inc. is committed to building partnerships with its customers and dealers and remaining the world's leading choice for drip irrigation technology.
